NEW DELHI: Delhi government on Saturday suspended an officer of the Directorate of Civil Defence headquarters after an advertisement disrespecting the territorial integrity of the union of India triggered a controversy. The advertisement was issued for enrolment of volunteers for civil defence corps where one of the eligibility criteria was that the person should be a "citizen of India or a subject of Sikkim or of Bhutan or of Nepal and a resident of Delhi."

Delhi government has withdrawn the advertisement, chief minister Arvind Kejriwal tweeted on Saturday evening. "Sikkim is an integral part of India. Such errors also cannot be tolerated. Advertisement has been withdrawn and action taken against the officer concerned," said the CM.
