Tony Bellew sheds tears after Oleksandr Usyk stops Bomber in final fight

Tony Bellew broke down in tears after losing the final fight of his career to cruiserweight king Oleksandr Usyk in Manchester.

Usyk showed his class as the undisputed champion, despite a slow start and sent Bellew crashing to the canvas in the eighth round.

The clash was hugely entertaining as Bellew stormed into an early lead on the scorecards, and took opportunities to taunt the Ukrainian.

The Bomber confirmed in the ring after the fight the Usyk loss was his final outing, but emotions took over in the corner as Bellew shared a word with his coach.

Dave Coldwell, who guided Bellew to becoming a world champion, spoke to his fighter as the Brit shed a few tears.

Once Bellew had regained his composure, he took to the mic to pay tribute to his rival before embracing Usyk.

I tried my best and gave it everything. Usyk is a great, great champion, Bellew said.

He beat me fair and square, I have no excuses. Oleksandr is the greatest man I have ever shared a ring with.

Only the very best and very greatest will find a way to beat him.

He added: Oleksandr come here, You are a great champion and it was an honour to share the ring with you.

While Usyk now plans to move up to heavyweight to challenge the likes of Anthony Joshua, Eddie Hearn reflected on a superb career for Bellew.

He said: I thought he won the first three rounds. He was starting to fade a little.

Hes given absolutely everything to this sport, and Im so pleased that people got to see the real Tony Bellew.

We are so proud of him. He can leave the sport knowing that he fought the very best.
